Level 1 Food/Hosp Technology Half Course
Course Description
Food Technology is about the creation of new food products. The Technology process of starting with a brief, researching, testing and trialling and always evaluation results in an end food product. This course is aimed at learners wishing to take a short course (two hours each week for the whole year) with both an academic and practical approach to the study of food. This course covers hygiene and safe food practises, and the knowledge and skills of food.
Learners will:
- develop practical skills that support the theory work being covered in the course.
Topic 1 – Focus is Manaakitanga - Implement basic procedures to process a specified product - Provide dishes for families through Love Soup
Topic 2 – Prepare and present fruit and vegetables
Topic 3 – How to use knives safely
Topic 4 – Summers coming - Mocktails
Recommended Prior Learning
Having taken Yr 9 and 10 Food technology would be advantageous
