Materials Technology –  (One Semester Course - two terms)

In this course, you will gain practical experience working with a range of materials and tools. You will complete two exciting projects that help you build skills in design, construction, and problem-solving.

What Will I Learn?

You will:

  • Use workshop tools and equipment safely

  • Learn how to follow a design process

  • Explore different materials (wood, plastic, and metal)

  • Develop practical construction and building skills

  • Gain confidence in making your ideas come to life

What Projects Will I Do?

Project 1 – Step Stool

  • Learn construction techniques using tools and materials

  • Construct a quality outcome

  • Focus on workshop safety, teamwork, and finishing techniques. 

Project 2 – Pizza Cutter 

  • Follow a Design process

  • Build a small project using accurate measuring, cutting, and assembly skills

  • Learn how to plan, sketch, test, and evaluate your ideas.
