Level 3 Drama

L3DRAM01
Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms S. Enright.

Recommended Prior Learning

Learners need to understand that they will need to use some literacy skills in this subject.

You should speak to the Head of Learning if you are interested in choosing this for Level 3 and have not done any other NCEA drama courses.

This course increases learners' confidence and builds skills that will assist them with all future endeavours.

Level 3 Drama is a University Approved course, and learners can gain UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE LITERACY credits!

This course prepares students for NCEA Level 3. Students will:

  • Develop their knowledge of acting technique by selecting and preparing a performance from one of two critically acclaimed NZ plays
  • Write their own script and have peers perform it on stage
  • Research, write and devise their own piece of drama in response to a person, event or topic
  • Some learners will sit a written external examination in which students demonstrate their understanding of drama within live performances they have seen

Year 13 Drama requires commitment from learners and they are required to be in class at least 90% of the time. This is to ensure they can adequately prepare for group performance assessments and keep up to date.

Students will be offered the opportunity to attend a range of performances in preparation for writing critical responses required in their external examination.
