Course Description

Year 7 Maths


This is the course that further develops the skills studied in Year 7. Learners are taught by specialist Mathematics teachers and learners use calculation methods to solve problems. Much of the focus in this year’s work is from Level 4 of the NZ Mathematics Curriculum. Coursework will include: 

  • Number: Multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, integers, powers, prime numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages.

  • Measurement: Perimeter, area and volume. 

  • Space: Angle rules, nets, and transformations. 

  • Algebra: Write expressions and equations, simplify, expand and factorise expressions, and solve equations.

  • Statistics: Statistical enquiry cycle(PPDAC) - Evaluate a problem, Create a plan to investigate, collect data to calculate central tendencies and create visual presentations, analyse the data to make informed conclusions.

  • Probability: Use the Statistical enquiry cycle to investigate chance-based scenarios, and express chance as a probability.
