This course is all about creating fashion with a conscience. If you care about the environment and love expressing yourself through design, this is the course for you.
You will explore the impact of fashion on the planet and develop your own ethical design brief. Through research, planning, testing, and construction, you will create garments that are not only stylish but also sustainable and meaningful.
What Will You Do?
Project 1 – Design & Make a Linen Shirt
Construct a button-down shirt using natural linen
Express your style through design details, colour matching, and fabric choice
Learn advanced construction techniques that focus on quality and finish
Project 2 – Ethical Fashion Challenge
Investigate the impact of fashion on people and the planet
Research sustainable practices and conduct interviews or stakeholder investigations
Design a garment that reflects your findings (e.g. a dress, jacket, or trousers)
Wear your finished piece to a visit at Two Spoons Café, our local ethical café
Use advanced construction techniques to complete high-quality garments
Present your thinking and progress in a clear and creative way
Take pride in your final outcomes, demonstrating both personal expression and environmental responsibility
