This course caters for the practical aspects of education, where learning a trade can provide both a career pathway and financial support for further education.
For learners on a trades pathway, the focus is typically on gaining practical skills and certifications that directly prepare them for a specific hospitality career. These skills are in demand and can lead to stable employment.
There are also learners who plan to attend university but see their current course as a way to acquire additional skills that can be monetized through part-time work. This strategy not only helps them gain experience but also allows them to contribute towards their educational expenses.
In both cases, the course is designed to meet the needs of these different learners:
Trades/Vocational Pathway Learners: Ensure the curriculum emphasises hands-on training, industry certifications, and practical experience. Focus on building skills that are directly applicable to Hospitality.
University-Bound Learners: Offer opportunities for skill development that can be used in part-time jobs.
Common Ground: Provide foundational knowledge that is useful to both groups, such as communication skills, soft skills, problem-solving, and basic business principles. Foster a supportive environment where all learners can interact and learn from each other's experiences.
By catering to both pathways, the course can effectively support a wide range of learners with diverse goals, ensuring they are prepared for their chosen paths, whether it's directly entering the workforce or pursuing further education.
Learners will:
Develop practical skills that support the theory work being covered in the course.
