Level 2 Hospitality
Course Description

This is a practical based course designed to develop skills and knowledge, using industry unit standards at level 2 through an outside provider- Service IQ (not NCEA but NZQA recognised). The learners will cook in a group of 2 to gain skills and knowledge needed to enter the hospitality and catering industries, like restaurants, cafes and hotels.
In this course we investigate the following: food safety, knife handling skills, prepare and present salads and grilled food to industry standards, make coffee-based beverages for commercial consumption, as well as investigating international cuisine.
Students with known food allergies will need to discuss with the HOD an action plan for managing this in class before taking part in any practical lessons.
