Level 3 Design and Visual Communication

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr D. Middleton.

Design and Visual Communication is a creative visual language concerned with using explorative thinking and design to create a spatial or product design using various design mediums and techniques to communicate, explore and refine design ideas based on an analysis of the design context. Considering environmental and human factors in design. Using sketches, drawings, illustrations, annotations and computer-generated images, modelling techniques to communicate their design ideas and thinking. They will then exhibit their final design to an audience of peers.

Learners will complete design projects that require them to develop high-quality solutions to real problems. Work from the projects completed during the year can be used in portfolios needed to enter tertiary courses such as Architecture and Design degrees.

Learners will undertake a portfolio of work, either a Spatial or Product Design, and create an exhibition of their final design.

Recommended Prior Learning

It is highly recommended that learners can sketch and draw confidently to clearly communicate their ideas to be successful in DVC.
