Level 3 Hospitality
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs C. Van Achterbergh.
This is a strongly practical based course using an outside provider, Service IQ (not NCEA but NZQA recognised), to complete unit standards at level 3. The learners will cook individually to gain skills and knowledge to assist them into a food-based pathway or employment; like chef/catering for restaurants, cafes, hotels, hospitals, prisons, etc. Assessment situations are practical and theory based, and will be set with expectations and timeframes for someone working in the Hospitality Industry, and with paying customers. The L3 Hosp class caters a 2 course meal for our school's Board of Trustees meetings every couple of months.
Students with known food allergies will need to discuss with the HOD an action plan for managing this in class before taking part in any practical lessons.
