Level 2 Drama
Course Description

This course increases confidence and allows for skill building that will help learners with all aspects of life!
This course also allows for learners to get UNIVERSITY APPROVED LITERACY credits!!!
This course prepares students for NCEA Level 2. Students will:
- Learn acting technique, focusing on different theatre practitioners
- Study Maori Theatre and perform some works from Briar Grace Smith, Hone Kouka and Witi Ihimaera
- Explore devised theatre, where students will create their own, original drama around a topic or text
- Write their own scene of a script and have peers perform it
- Some learners will also sit a written external examination to demonstrate their understanding of drama within live performances they have seen
Year 12 Drama requires commitment from students to be present at least 90% of the time. This is to ensure we can complete the content of the course, as well as give time to adequately prepare with other for performance assessments.
Recommended Prior Learning
Learners need to understand that they will need to use some literacy skills in this subject and will be required to perform in front of others in a group.
